Damage/Effect
You point at an ally under attack, instantly conjuring an invisible barrier of magical force to protect them. Until the start of their next turn, the target has a +3 bonus to AC, including against the triggering attack, and they take no damage from magic missile.
"I may be hiding behind you, but that doesn't mean you're in this alone!"
* - which you take when an ally within 30 feet is hit by an attack or targeted by the magic missile spell.
The only thing you may consider changing is stating that this would not stack with itself (cast by another party member that is not the victim of the attack) or the regular Shield spell. I think this is a great support spell, and love the concept, but am a little worried about the ability for this to be stacked on a single target. In a group of 5 players who have the ability to cast spells, you could have the AC bonus be +17 at the low cost of reactions and first level slots.
PHB p205: "The effects of the same spell cast multiple times don't combine,"
It might be that you're right about Shield and Distant Shield not stacking, but really I don't think there's too much problem with that.
+ good and simple, with nice desription
+ dnd friendly spell and I am sure it makes combat more fun when players an help eachother
Shield of faith but better in almost every way
I'm surprised this is not given to support-style classes like Artificer and/or Cleric. Seem very up their alley and since it can't really stack anyway, it wouldnt have to deal with a hassle of too many people taking it.
