Bone Spear (Alpha)

A spear of ivory flies toward a target within range and explodes into bone shrapnel on impact.

Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 4d4 necrotic damage. Every creature within 5 feet of the struck creature must make a Dexterity Saving Throw or take 2d4 piercing damage.

On a miss, the spear bursts and every creature within 5 feet of the intended target must still make a Dexterity Saving Throw or take 2d4 piercing damage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the necrotic and piercing damage increases by 1d4 for each slot level above 2nd.
