This spell creates a circular, horizontal plane of force, 5 feet in diameter and 1 inch thick, that floats 3 feet above the ground in a space of your choice that you can see within range. If the space is occupied the disc appears flat along the ground below and rises up to the 3 feet lifting what was on it. If that which was on it cannot be lifted such as being too heavy (greater than 500 lbs) or fixed in place the spell fails but the spell slot is not wasted. When created the disk remains for the duration, and can hold up to 500 pounds. If more weight is placed on it then it cannot move and if the total weight exceeds 1,000 lbs the spell ends, and everything on the disk falls to the ground.

The disk has 3 modes: follow, control, elevation. You can use a bonus action to change the mode. It begins in follow mode unless you choose otherwise (for example you can create a disk in elevation mode allowing you to create it in the air up to 100 feet above the ground - useful if you need to descend safely from a great height).

Follow mode:

For this mode the disk must be within 1 to 3 feet from the ground. It cannot enter this mode if it is outside of these limits. In this mode the disk is immobile while you are within 20 feet of it. If you are, or you move, more than 20 feet away from it, the disk follows you so that it remains within 20 feet of you. It can move across uneven terrain, up or down stairs, slopes and the like, but it can’t cross an elevation change of 10 feet or more. For example, the disk can’t move across a 10-foot-deep pit, nor could it leave such a pit if it was created at the bottom. If you move more than 100 feet from the disk (typically because it can’t move around an obstacle to follow you), the spell ends.

Control mode:

For this mode the disk must be within 1 to 3 feet from the ground. It cannot enter this mode if it is outside of these limits. In this mode the disk is immobile unless you use your action to move it. With your action you can move it up to 30 feet and this movement follows the same rules as in the follow mode. You cannot actively move the disk a distance that would make it greater than 100 feet from you. If you move more than 100 feet from the disk the spell ends. If you move the disk to a space where the ground is greater than 10 feet below you can do so only by combining it with your bonus action to immediately change it to Elevation mode otherwise the move attempt fails.

Elevation mode:

In this mode the disk is immobile unless you use your action to move it. With your action you can move it up to 30 feet but can only move it up or down in a straight line. You cannot move it beyond 100 feet of the ground or from you. When not being moved it remains at the current elevated level until you move it again or the spell ends. If the spell ends (except as a result of too much weight described above) while in Elevation mode the disk remains and you cannot control it as the disk falls evenly at a rate of 60 feet per round until it is within 3 feet of a solid surface and then disappears causing whatever was on it to fall. While in this mode you can use your action to move the disk 5 feet to the side to be over ground if you combine it with your bonus action to switch to Control mode.

For any mode, while the disk remains you may also use your action to end the spell early.
