Choose a non-magical manufactured metal object that is being carried, such as a metal weapon or a suit of heavy or medium metal armor, that you can see within range. Rust begins to crawl up the surface of the item, weakening it to uselessness. While active, the Rust alters the effectiveness of a weapon or armour based on the item chosen.
Shield: the creature using the shield no longer gains the AC benefits of this shield while the spell is active.
Armour: the creature wearing the armour no longer gains the AC benefits of this armour while the spell is active.
Weapon: the weapon becomes brittle and useless, making the damage of the weapon become 1d1 on every hit. Physical modifiers, like Strength or Dexterity, are negated. Magical modifiers, such as Blood Hunter enchancements remain.
Door Lock: any creature gets advantage to Strength Checks to forcibly break a door lock.
Magical items cannot be targeted.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, you can target an additional metallic object for every two slot levels above 3rd.
