You conjure a magical dagger and launch it at a target creature within this spell's range (targets hit by the dagger are not damaged by it). Upon impact, you can cause the dagger to ricochete to up to two other creatures in sequence, provided that the dagger does not need to travel more than 20 feet between each creature. The dagger disappears once it has hit its last target, and a creature cannot be struck by the dagger more than once per each casting of this spell. Any creature hit by the dagger gains a mark from this spell until the end of your next turn; a creature cannot have more than one mark at a time. If you hit a marked creature with an attack, the mark is removed and your attack briefly becomes a spinning fury of blades, causing the creature to take an additional 2d6 magical slashing damage.
At Higher Levels: If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the dagger can ricochet to one additional creature for each level beyond the 1st (up to a maximum of 4 additional creatures), and the damage dealt to each creature by this spell increases by 1d6 for every two levels beyond the 1st: 3d6 at 3rd level, 4d6 at 5th level, 6d6 at 7th level, and 9d6 at 9th level.
