This spell enables you to visit other historical time periods in the DND universe, such as the Sundering, Spellplague, the Netherise Empire, Karsus's Folly, or other times, as well as to travel to the future. Your actions in the past change the present.

You draw on the ground a circle of sigils with a diameter of 10ft, placing the material components and the objects or creatures you want to send to another time in the circle, and within a height of 10ft from the floor (a cylinder). The blessing and approval of at least one God for your journey must be secured for the spell to work. Once the casting time is finished, you touch the edge of the circle, the material components are instantly consumed, and you unleash an unimaginable amount of magical energy into the cylinder, which teleports those inside, and the air around them, to a time of your choosing (you can be in the circle as well). A thin slice of the floor will be transported, but not the sigils. A Thunderwave blast will be followed by a strong suction wind as air rushes in to fill the vacuum. The destination time can be no further than 5,000 years into the future or past. The physical location of arrival can be anywhere you decide in the material plane. The time travellers will instantaneously be transported, and will only notice a flash of light and a sudden change of scenery. At the destination, strong winds will erupt away from the time travellers as they appear and air is displaced. If the destination area is occupied, the cylinder will be moved to the closest available free space. Casting the spell is an ordeal, and has a 50% chance of instantly killing and disintegrating the caster. If multiple mages assist in the casting, this risk is reduced by half for each extra caster, with 3 extra casters being the recommended number.

The Effects of Time Travel:

Time travel to the future is simple. Time travel to the past, however, creates a new history. Time travellers to the past alter the fabric of reality and change the future automatically as soon as they arrive. People in the present are unaware that the past is being altered, as memories change along with buildings and histories. If you make it obvious, intelligent beings and later historians will realise you were from the future. Once the spell has been activated the God’s blessing is no longer required, and the God might not even exist at the destination depending on time chosen. Depending on when they arrive, time travellers might find themselves disconnected from their deities, or cut off from their powers. A Truesight spell will expose a time traveller, who will be detected as an alien planar entity, foreign to that reality. If travellers want to return to their time of origin, magic must exist as it was known in their original time, they will need a mage that knows this spell, and have the material components. (You cannot cast this spell during the historical Spellplague event for example. You can go there, but not leave).

When a time traveller returns home to the present he will be confronted by an alternate version of himself, if he hasn’t erased himself already. Travellers can prevent themselves from being born and therefore be erased from history, but their current bodies and souls won’t be erased, since any creature or item that travels through time with this spell becomes automatically immune to changes in history and time paradoxes caused by this spell. Thus a traveller can kill his grandfather in the past and not be affected, but no one in his own time will recognise him on his return to an altered present. When they return they might not recognise their home time, as their actions in the past could have caused a wide variety of changes, decided by the DM. If a time traveller’s mind is read or if they tell others about this spell in the past, it could potentially lead to others learning the Time Travel spell, causing a potential spiral into chaos. Travelling to the past alters and erases the entire universe you came from, and replaces it with an alternate version. For this reason the spell is a complete secret and is nearly impossible to cast. The goddess of magic Mystra forbade the use of this spell after Karsus's Folly, however after her death it is unknown if the spell can be performed again.

(This is actually a 13th level spell, not a 9th level spell)
