Grizznax the Goblin Mage always felt disrespected in his tribe despite his considerable magical skills, while the tribe’s strong but unintelligent brutes received all the credit for everything from successful raids to fun feasts.
Grizznax knew his spells could easily defeat his oafish nemeses but ever sought more and more ways to thoroughly embarrass them upon command. He spent years perfecting this simple spell to cause some harm, but with such a spectacle as to deter opponents from engaging with him once cast. Thanks to it and others, Grizznax was soon Chieftain, his enemies reduced to dead, blood-spurting husks. For decades, his people basked in the glow of Grizznax's enlightened but despotic rule.
An unseen force targets and pierces several small blood vessels of a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against that creature. On a hit, the target takes 1d12 necrotic damage as the pierced blood vessels ooze out in a spectacular burst of color, to the great amusement of teenage spectators and the great consternation of those responsible for cleaning affected areas and clothing. On each of your turns up to a total of 10 minutes, you may choose to maintain this bloodletting. If you do so, no additional damage will be caused but unless the blood flow is stanched, allies of the target within 30 feet will be frightened.
Additional unseen forces pierce yet additional blood vessels when you reach higher levels: two forces at 5th level, three forces at 11th level, and four forces at 17th level. You can direct the forces at the same target or at different ones. Make a separate attack roll for each force.
The spell also ends if the target is ever outside the spell’s range or if it has total cover from you.
