Your touch aligns the essence of a creature so that it powerfully attracts all metals within a 15 foot radius. An Unwilling creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or suffer the effects of this spell. A willing creature may choose to fail this save.
Objects made of metal that weigh less than 5 pounds succumb to the pull of this spell and are pulled towards the target, acting according to the DM's discretion. Objects do not accelerate to a dangerous velocity, however objects already moving at a dangerous speed maintain their speed even if this spell causes them to change direction. All metals, even non-ferrous ones like gold, are affected. The accretion of too many metal objects can restrict a creatures movement, turning the ground around it into difficult terrain. Enormous piles of coins, for example, could trap and even crush the target.
This spell has many varied effects, not all of which are covered here. Issues not detailed below are determined by the DM's discretion.
Ranged Weapon Attacks
The pull of this spell causes all ranged attacks made in the affected area or against creatures in the affected area to attack the target of this spell instead. Ranged attacks redirected in this way are impossible to aim properly, and are made with disadvantage. Ranged attacks originally targeting the magnetized creature behave normally. This effect only applies to ranged attacks made using metal ammunition (arrowheads, crossbow bolts, javelins, ball bearings, etc.)A creature under the effects of this spell has disadvantage on ranged attacks made with metal weapons. On a miss, these projectiles do not escape the magnetic pull, and drift harmlessly back to the attacker.
Melee Weapon Attacks
Melee weapon attacks made with metal weapons against a magnetized creature strike with crushing force, gaining a +2 to attack and damage rolls.
A creature under the effects of this spell has advantage on checks made to grapple creatures wearing metal armor, or to disarm creatures of their metal weapons. A creature under the effects of this spell is at disadvantage to escape from grapples or restraints made by creatures or objects that are made of metal.
Movement
Creatures within range wearing metal armor have their movement speed reduced by 10 feet when moving away from a creature affected by this spell, but increased by 10 feet when moving towards it.
At Higher Levels
When cast using a slot of 4th level or higher, the radius of effect increases by 5 feet per level. When cast using a spell slot of 9th level, in addition to the increased range effect, the duration of this spell changes to "Until Dispelled" and does not require concentration.
