You fall into deep prayer or meditation, beseeching your patron or deity for a miracle to restore life to a creature that has been dead for no more than 10 days, and didn't die of old age. You must be able to see the creatures body to cast the spell.
Your patron/deity will then think of a task to be given that can be realistically be completed within 7 days, this task is determined by the DM. The task could entail finding a rare artefact to present to the patron/deity, or the destruction of a powerful enemy of theirs. The patron/deity may also set any additional conditions for the task, such as "only those loyal to me can join you on this quest" or "if you fail the task, the soul belongs to me", according to the DMs discretion.
The task can be given to the creature who casts this spell, or the creature who the spell has been cast on. If the task given to the deceased creature, it is temporarily brought back to life for the duration of the spell. If it is given to the caster, the body and soul of the deceased creature will be safeguarded by the patron or deity. They will be kept in a demiplane accessible only by you and the patron/deity, and time passed within the demiplane does not count towards the time limit for other resurrection spells. The body also does not decay when in the demiplane, nor can it be raised as an undead.
If the task is completed successfully, the creature is brought back to life with all of it's hit points restored, and any poisons or diseases affecting it removed. Additionally, the creature regains any body parts integral for survival, such as its head or heart, but it does not regain non-vital lost limbs. If the task is failed, the creatures body and soul is at the mercy of your patron/deity, and it can no longer be resurrected by any means other than the wish spell.
Coming back from the dead is an ordeal, the target takes a -4 penalty to all attack rolls, saving throws and ability checks. Every time the target finishes a long rest, the penalty is reduced by 1 until it disappears. Additionally, time spent with a deity's envoys or a patrons minions can leave a lasting impression on a mortal soul. At the DM's discretion, the revived creature might develop new personality traits, ideals or flaws depending on the nature of your deity/patron.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the creature gains all of the benefits of the lower level spell, but does not suffer the -4 penalty and has all missing limbs restored. Any curse upon the creature is also magically lifted. When you cast this spell using a 9th level spell slot, you no longer require a body to target with this spell, as your deity/patron will forge a new one for the fallen creature.
