Posted Oct 7, 2021for ever two slots above second? so that means that for even a mad level warlock, this spell will do a maximum damage of 2D10, since a warlock only has slots to 5th level, the mystic arcanum doesn't count as a spell level, so warlocks can only up-cast to 5th level. a melee focused warlock with extra attack would find this very useful, but for most warlocks, this is far less useful than just casting eldritch blast, now if it was for every level above two it would be another story, then you're dealing 4D10 damage when your blast is only doing 3D10. but you're still using a spell slot to create a weapon that does less damage than you can do with a cantrip. in my opinion it would be better as a 1st level spell, or make it for every one slot above second for the up-casting, that would make it more useful i think.

Posted Nov 23, 2023Came here to say pretty much this. I like the concept, but especially starting at second level, this scaling feels really bad. It looks like a reskinned Spiritual Weapon without the freedom to move the weapon independently of your character. Might play better if it was a first level spell, cantrip, or scaled every spell level instead of every other
