As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a attack with a ranged weapon against one creature within the weapon’s short range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack’s normal effects, and gains the poisoned condition for one round.

This spell deals damage when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the attack deals 1d8 poison damage to the target. This damage increases by 1d8 at 11th level and 17th level.
