Between two targets, a contract is magically written in the air binding the two in agreement with the terms as well as the punishment if the contract is breached. As soon as the contract is finished writing in the air, blood must be drawn from both targets to complete the contract.  If there is a time limit set, the time limit appears inked onto the top of each targets hand and continues to count down until the end of the contract. IF both parties breech the contract or fail to complete the contract within the given time limit, they are both affected by the punishment. 

Requirements for a contract:

  • Terms of the Contract (Offer/Exchange)
  • Punishment
  • Agreement

Only one punishment is allowed per contract made. Roll for the following punishment for the contract: 

  1. The target is affected by the Feign Death spell for 1d4 hours.
  2. The target has a -1 to all saving throws for the next 1d4 hours. 
  3. The target is unable to cast spells from a single school of magic (DM's Choice) for the next 1d4 hours.
  4. The target must roll on the short term insanity table and is affected for 1d4 hours. 
  5. The target is affected by the Blindness/Deafness spell for 1d4 hours.
  6. An unknown ring appears on the target's finger and the target is effected as if by the Bestow Curse spell. The target is affected for 1d4 hours.

Creating another contract with the same target when one is already in place with said target voids the original contract. 


When casting this spell at 9th level, the punishments becomes harsher. Roll for the amount of hours a Greater Restoration spell cannot be used to remove the effect. Until a Greater Restoration spell is used, the effects are considered permanent. 

  1. The target must instantly roll death saving throws (Instead of time the target will be affected). On a fail, the target is affected as if by the Power Word Kill spell.
  2. The target has a -2 to all saving throws and checks
  3. The target is unable to cast spells from two schools of magic (DM's Choice) 
  4. The target must roll on the long term insanity table 
  5. The target is both Blinded and Deafened 
  6. An unknown ring appears on the target's finger, have the DM roll on the Detrimental Properties for artifacts. (Found in the DMG pg 220. DM's can also create their own). When the ring is dispelled, the ring shatters and disappears.

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the dice increases by 1d4 for each slot level above 5th.
