A caster imbues a whip with magical energy. As a part of this spell, the caster makes a melee spell attack with the whip; its range is twice its normal range, and they may use their spell casting ability for the sake of the attack rolls and damage rolls with the whip until the start of their next turn.
If the caster attacks an object of 5 or less pounds that is not worn or carried, the whip wraps around the object, grabbing it. The caster must transfer the object to a free hand before the beginning of their next turn, or the object is dropped.
If the caster uses this spell to make an attack against a secure object that a whip can feasibly wrap around and might support the caster’s weight (e.g., a banister, a mounted iron ring, etc.) the whip wraps around it tightly. It remains there for 1 minute or until the caster uses a bonus action to yank it free.
If the caster uses this spell to attack an object that is held by another character, they must make a strength saving throw against the caster’s spell save DC. On a failed save, the object is dropped, falling directly to the down from where it was held.
