You shoot a comet of cosmic light at a creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 radiant damage. If the target was an object, it takes no damage and instead emits bright light in a 30 foot radius until the end of your next turn.
This spell’s damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8).
The spell damage doesn't upscale according to level on the digital character sheet. Needs editing.
This is a well-designed spell. The 30ft radius of bright light has me a little concerned. Light is 20ft. I think the language could be improved a bit. My first thought reading "If the target was an object..." was, Like if you accidentally hit an object instead of a creature? Something closer to "If you cast this spell on an object..." might improve it a bit, but some may say that's just style.
Other than that, good range, good damage, good type, interesting rider!!
I'd love to see what you think of a new spell I designed recently, please comment: Illusive Wounds
I agree with you. I think it should cast bright light in a radius of 10ft to keep it balanced otherwise the Light cantrip is pointless since this cantrip could do damage or cast Light at a distance.
This is sacred flame but more realistic and not based for clerics.
