At your touch and Command, you can breathe a facsimile of life into an inanimate object, such as a sword or a cloak. As an action, you can Awaken one object of your choice. The object can be no larger than 5ft in any dimension. When you Awaken an object in this way, you give it a command no longer than 2 words, such as "Guard me" or "Open door".
An object Awakened in this way can only move independently if it has the facilities to do so - for example, an Awakened dagger could not move, since it does not have legs, and it's form is not flexible enough to create them.
An Awakened object will perform its command to the best of its ability, yet it can only interpret instructions literally, and will be unable to perform complex tasks, even if they are limited to 2 words.
Should an Awakened object be used in combat, it has the appropriate stats can be found in the Animate Objects spell. Objects such as trousers or shirts could be Awoken to provide advantage on certain physical skill checks, such as athletics or acrobatics, depending on the Command given. Using the spell on an object to block incoming damage (such as Commanding a cloak to provide protection) increases the wearers AC by 1 for the spell's duration. Attempting to awaken an object which another creature is holding or wearing requires them to make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC
For each level you cast this spell above 2, you can increase the number of words in you Command by 1, up to a maximum total of 5 words.
