As part of the casting of this spell, you draw a magical transmutation circle up to 5 feet in diameter on a flat surface.  Non-magical objects with a volume of up to  5 cubic feet, may be placed within the circle.  When you finish casting this spell, objects within the circle instantly and permanently take on a new shape of your choice.  The new objects are composed of the same material as the objects placed within the circle.  You can create as many new objects as you like, so long as their combined volume is not greater than the original volume of objects placed within the circle.  For example, you might transform a log into 10 javelins,  100 arrows,  1000 toothpicks, or another other wooden object or objects that do not exceed the volume of the original log, subject to DM discretion.  Your DM might require you to make an Intelligence check in order to create complex or intricate objects with this spell.

An alternative use of this spell is to alter the very surface upon which the transmutation circle is drawn.  This usage of the spell must follow the same rules as above.  The surface must not be magical, and its new shape can not have more volume than a 5 foot cube.  Otherwise, the surface takes on any shape you desire.

Living creatures can't be created or transmuted by this spell. You also can't use it to create items that ordinarily require a high degree of craftsmanship, such as jewelry, weapons, glass, or armor, unless you have proficiency with the type of artisan's tools used to craft such objects.

You may cast this spell to greater effect at higher levels.  For each level spell slot you use beyond first level, the maximum volume of objects you can transmute increases by 5 cubic feet.  For example, if you cast this spell using a second level spell slot, you could affect a volume of objects up to 10 cubic feet, 15 cubic feet for a third level slot, and so on.
