You hurl an undulating, spear of chaotic energy at one creature in range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 + 1d4 damage. The number rolled on the d8 determines the attack’s damage type, as shown below.

This spell's damage increases by 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d4), 11th level (3d4), and 17th level (4d4).
