This spell takes a minute of concentration to cast. If, for some reason, your concentration is interrupted during the casting procedure, the spell fails, but the candle is not consumed. You hold the unlit candle to your breast. Upon completion, it dissipates, and a calming, cold feeling of tranquility washes over you, clearing your mind and stilling your heart. An empty black circle appears on the forehead of a creature affected by this spell.
For the next hour, you cannot be frightened or charmed, and gain resistance to a damage type of your choice.
You can cast this spell once per day without consequence. If you cast this spell twice in one day, the spell succeeds and you must make a charisma saving throw. On a failed save, you are afflicted by short-term madness. Have your DM roll to determine the effect. If you cast this spell three times in one day, the spell succeeds and you are immediately afflicted by long-term madness. You cannot cast this spell again until your madness ends. Have your DM roll to determine the effect.
At Higher Levels: At levels 4, 8, and 12, the amount of creatures you can target to gain this spell's effects increases by 2 (do not count yourself as a targeted creature.) Any creature you target with this spell must be a willing creature, and cannot already be charmed. A charmed creature immediately suffers a mental break and becomes hostile towards the caster.
