You lock eyes with a target you can see. The target must make a constitution saving throw. On a failed save the target takes 5d10+30 cold damage and is frozen in place (paralyzed). On a successful save, the damage is halved and the target is slowed.
If the target is large or smaller and is killed with this spell, starting at it's eyes and spreading forth, it's very cells are replaced with ice crystals until the target becomes solid ice. A target killed in this way cannot be brought back to life except with a true resurrection or wish spell.
Creatures with immunity to cold suffer no effects. Creatures with resistance to cold automatically succeed on their constitution saving throw.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage increases by 5d10 for each slot level above 5th.
