This spell cannot be used if you have moved or used a bonus action on the turn you are casting it. This spell can only be cast on your turn and only as an action (it cannot be quicked with Sorcerery Points, for example) and must be the only action you take on this turn. With this spell you pour all of your momentum and potential into magically enhanced defense. Until the start of your next turn the following applies to you:

  • Your speed becomes 0.
  • You cannot take Attacks of Opportunity.
  • You gain a +5 bonus to Armor Class.
  • You have advantage to all saving throws. If succeeding normally results in half-damage you take no damage instead and you only receive half damage on failure.
  • All attacks made against you are at disadvantage.
  • You can cast the Shield spell or the Absorb Elements spell as a reaction without components, without spending spell slots and without needing to know them or have them prepared.

This spell ends at the start of your next turn and the duration cannot be extended by any means. On your next turn, which is the turn on which this spells at the start of, you cannot cast any spells higher than 1st level until the end of that turn.
