Calki's Essence of Desperation

Created out of Desperation by the Sorcerer Calki the Protruding this spell packs a punch but at a cost. Think wisely before using this spell, it not only damages the enemy but also the caster.

Cast out of pure desperation you draw your very life essence, amplify it and use it as your weapon.

A dark engulfing streak explodes from your palm to a creature you choose within range and then engulfs the creature with an explosion of necrotic energy. The targeted creature must make a Constitution saving throw. A target takes [roll]10d8[roll] necrotic damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.

On a failed save the creature is also Frightened for 1 minutes and can repeat the saving throw on the start of their turn, on a successful save the target is not Frightened.

The caster automatically passes the Constitution saving throw, so takes half damage, but also suffers from one point of exhaustion upon use.

If the caster drops to 0 HP upon using the spell, the caster gets one last desperate Message to a nearby ally.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for every level.

*Note: if Twin-casted the caster only takes one exhaustion point and doesn't take damage from the second beam*
