You target undead with a total CR of 1/4 or lower within range, the undead must make a Wisdom saving throw or be brought under your control for the spell’s duration. If an undead succeeds its saving throw against this spell, it cannot be controlled by the caster using this spell for the next 24 hours. When the spell ends, the undead controlled resumed its actions prior to being controlled and is aware that it was controlled by the caster.
The caster can control the undead as an action on their turn issuing a task that the undead will carry out until either given a new task or it completes its task. Undead with an Intelligence score of 8 or higher have advantage on their saving throw. Undead with an Intelligence score of 12 or higher cannot be controlled in this way.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can control more powerful undead. The chart below details the total CR of undead controllable by slot level used.
