You jam your branch into the ground and cause thorny plants to burst forth in a 30-foot cone. The area is now considered difficult terrain. Additionally, each creature in the spell’s area when the spell is cast must make a Strength saving throw or be caught in the thorns. On a failed save, they take 8d4 piercing damage and are restrained. On a successful save, they half as much damage, but are not restrained. At the beginning of the creatures’ turn each round, the creatures can make another Strength saving throw to escape the vines. Otherwise, they take another 4d4 piercing damage on each round and remain restrained.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage increases by 2d4 for the initial save and 1d4 for the following turns for each slot level above 5th.
