When a creature within 60ft. of you begins casting a spell, you can attempt to ensnare it's magic, countering the spell and giving you insight into the spell it just cast. If the spell you are countering is 6th level or lower, you counter the spell automatically and can cast the countered spell once before this spell ends. You must expend the necessary spell slots and components to do so after which the spell then ends. If the spell you are countering is 7th level or higher, you treat this spell as a counterspell of 7th level and the spell ends. Then, for 24 hours after the spell ends, you have the ability to copy a spell countered with this spell into a spellbook you own or on to a spell scroll, but only if you successfully countered that spell. To copy it into a spellbook, it must be a spell on your class list.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell at 8th level or higher, you treat this spell as a counterspell of the spell slot level. If the spell you countered is of at least one level lower than the slot used to cast this spell, then you can cast the countered spell once before this spell ends. If you do, the spell then ends.
