Blood berry

Your hand starts to blister and pulse. you look down and see a giant berry that has a heart beat of its own. 

If consumed the berry adds 1 temporary AC for 1 minute. If thrown, the berry does 1d8 poison damage and the victim must make a constitution saving throw or take 2d4 poison damage everytime. If the save is made then they are not poisoned. 

It costs 10 hp to create 1 blood berry. 

If cast at a higher level add 2d8 to the poison attack per level. 

(Example: cast at level 2, expend 20 hp, 3d8 for damage)

If cast at level 4 or higher add 2 to your temporary AC
