Damage/Effect

You feed one willing creature the pepper or mint, or you affix the material to a surface. From the pepper/mint spews magical energy. Choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or light. Until the spell ends, a creature can use an action to exhale energy of the chosen type in a 15-foot cone; the object continuously emits the magical energy in a 15-foot cone. Only one creature/object can benefit from this spell at a time. Subsequent attempts fail as the creature/object - yes, even the object - are too frightened of the spiciness to consume the material willingly.

Each creature in the magical cone must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 1d6 damage of the chosen type on a failed save. Light magical energy causes no damage but blinds affected creatures through their next turn, after which they cannot be blinded by this spell the remainder of the day. The consuming creature or surface remain unaffected by the spell. However, a gut punch or other physical damage makes the creature gag on the pepper/mint, so creature must make a CON saving throw to keep the materials in its mouth. The spell lasts until caster dispells it, the creature spits out the material (in)voluntarily, or when pepper/mint is covered or moved from the object.

The spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6). If applicable to the caster, you may sculpt this spell around one ally before the 5th level. Afterwards, the protected creatures increases by 1 at 5th level (2), 11th level (3), and 17th level (4).

* - (A curiously strong peppermint OR a spicy pepper (which is consumed in the process))
