A white incandescent beam of reality-altering destruction streaks out from your palm to strike all targets in a 60 foot line. The targets can be creatures, objects, or creations of magical force. All creatures targeted by this spell must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target is ripped from reality and its soul irreversibly unraveled in a shower of sparkling motes.
Any creature, object, or magical effect destroyed by this spell ceases to exist up to 24 hours before the spell was cast and therefore all actions they may have performed are undone (DM discretion). For example, a character killed or wounded by a creature destroyed by this spell would instantly be resurrected and/or wounds healed.
Any creature destroyed by this spell cannot be resurrected, as there is no soul to bring back.

Posted Apr 1, 2019Awesome! I was wondering if anyone had tried to make a homebrew spell to replicate this Wheel of Time magic, and I think you've done a good job of it (and let me say, it is a pleasure to read a homebrew creation that displays decent grammar and vocabulary ;P ). I borrowed several people/place names from WoT in the improvised campaign I'm DMing, and I'm considering putting something like this in closer to the endgame.
I'm wondering if there's a way to make the spell more specific about how far back in time the target is "unravelled"; perhaps this could be a lower-level spell (say, 7th?) that unravels the target 1 hour back, and upcasting the spell increases that time (e.g., 8th = 8 hours, 9th = 24 hours)? Though, that *does* open up the possibility of a PC having the option to use Balefire FOUR times per long rest, which seems a touch overpowered... Hmm...

Posted Nov 6, 2020This is the best version of Balefire on here. Would you mind if I used the bulk of your work and tweaked if for effect? I was thinking of adding some differing distances and make the length of time that is affected more random. I like your descriptions and want to use them.

Posted Nov 6, 2020@Kael_The_Adventurere I want to try and make something like that. I have ideas to make the length of the beam/amount of time be different too.
