Description: Bestow is the ability to transfer either a known spell or the spell of another caster into an item. Bestow is cast upon the item in question, and rubbed with the oil made of the components while the caster commands the item being "bestowed" to accept the spell that follows.
The spell that follows is the spell being "bestowed". The Bestowed spell (the spell to be cast upon the "bestowed object) is cast within 1 round plus 1 round for each level of the bestowing caster. This short period of time is called the "acceptance period". The second spell (the spell being bestowed upon the object) must adhere to the Storage Limits and may be cast by another caster as long as it is within the time of the "acceptance period".
Storage Limits: Bestowed Spells: Must be equal to or lower level than the BESTOW caster's ability. The spell being bestowed upon an item cannot be a spell of a higher general level, than the bestowing caster could normally cast, but may certainly be of a different school or kind of magic.
Limitation: The amount of bestowed spells upon an item may NOT exceed the number of spell levels and / or spells total that the Bestow caster may cast in one day. Said another way, the item that has been bestowed upon, may not have more spells or more spells levels cast upon it than the bestow caster may cast in one day.
Duration: The effect lasts 24 hours for every level of the caster above 5th level. The "bestowed" item can be "triggered" in one of two ways:
Triggering: Once bestowed, the effect / spell is triggered within the duration as follows:
1) A command word made up by the caster (casting the bestowed spell) will act as a command word is spoken by a sentient being (anyone that knows the command word) which instantly triggers the effect
2) An event can "remotely" trigger the bestowed effect and can only be one of the following:
a) The item is touched or touched by a specific type, kind or individual
b) approached by a sentient being or a specific type, kind or individual within 30' or less
c) a specific word is spoken within 30' (targeting the speaker or the speaker as the center of the area effect)
d) a certain spell is cast within 30' (targeting the caster or the caster as the center of the area effect)
Scaling: Casting Bestow at 11th level allows the bestowed item to receive the bestowed spell multiple times with only one casting of the spell being bestowed.
That is to say that the item to benefit from the spells being cast may have a number of charges equal to Bestow caster's Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma modifier (whichever is primary for them). Example: If a caster has already cast Bestow on a ring, and a second caster casts magic missile upon the ring once and that magic missile caster's intelligence modifier is 3, then the ring has three charges of magic missile stored in it for use by anyone who knows the command spell for the ring.
The charges must however be manually reloaded, but the Bestow spell does not have to be recast, just the spell being reloaded, and only once to fully "recharge" the spell in question. In fact the item can be loaded with any spell that fits into the already described Storage Limits mentioned above.
