Coded Conversation

This spell is cast with a subtle phrase and wave of three fingers. Choose up to 3 creatures within range. A creature understands it is being targeted by the spell and can attempt to resist with a Charisma saving throw, rejecting the spell's effect on a success.

For the duration, whenever you and the chosen targets converse with one another, you can hide your true message in coded tongue. When an affected creature speaks a phrase out loud, they can choose to convey an entirely different phrase instead to other affected creatures who can hear them. Creatures who were not included when the spell was cast hear and understand the audible message as normal, with no knowledge of the encrypted meaning.

The effects of this spell can not be detected by normal, non-magical means. A detect thoughts spell or similar magic might reveal the encrypted message as it passes through a creatures thoughts.

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can target two additional creatures for each slot level above 1st.
