You channel eldritch magic to bring forth sharp claws of bone and solidified blood from your hands. Make a melee attack against a creature within 5 feet of you using the claws. You may use your spellcasting ability for the attack roll. On a hit, the target takes force damage equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier, and the spell then ends.
The spell hastens your attacks with these claws when you reach higher levels, allowing you to make multiple melee attacks as part of the spell. You may make two attacks at 5th level, three attacks at 11th level, and four attacks at 17th level. You can direct the attacks at the same target or at other targets within 5 feet of you. Make a separate attack roll for each target.

Posted Jan 15, 2021The design intent of this Cantrip is to provide a thematic melee alternative for non-Blade Warlocks to use in place of Eldritch Blast. It has less damage potential than Eldritch Blast in ideal scenarios, but a consequently lower invocation tax.
Without any invocations the damage potential is similar to Eldritch Blast (i.e.; 1d8+CHA vs 1d10) with slightly higher minimum/maximum damage rolls depending on your spellcasting modifier.
Eldritch Blast with the Agonizing Blast invocation will outpace this cantrip (i.e.; 1d8+CHA vs 1d10+CHA) in raw damage potential and also has the benefit of range, but this cantrip works similarly to the SCAG cantrips (Booming Blade, Green-Flame Blade, etc.) in that it can interact with melee attack mechanics such as Rogue's Sneak Attack or the Horizon Walker Ranger's "Planar Warrior" feature.
