You create a magical doorway that lets you view alternate timelines and glimpse past events. Upon casting, you manifest a magical doorway that lasts for 1 round. Any creatures that step into it are transported to the Abyssal Sea in a 20x20 foot cube that you can see through. This box lasts up to 24 hours, at the end of which all occupants are returned to the plane of the spell's casting, where the spell was located, in an unoccupied space within 10 feet of the wooden puzzle box, which remains as an anchor to the plane of casting.
As an action for the duration of the spell, you can view any event which happened in the past, for up to the remaining duration of the spell, provided that it occurred on the plane of existence of the spell's casting, through the walls of the cube as though the occupants were present at the event. The occupants cannot interfere with the events of the past.
Alternatively, as an action, they can view possible outcomes of the future, if an imminent event is on the horizon that could have severe consequences for the world. These alternatives give no indication of what led to this version of reality, and give no indication of which outcome is more likely. Each alternate reality viewed uses time from the remaining duration.
At any point, the caster can choose to end the spell, returning all occupants to the plane of the spell's casting, and all occupants recall any information they learned once they return. The DM decides on any consequences of knowing the information they learned (see Sanity on page 265 or the Dungeon Master's Guide and Madness on page 258-260 of the Dungeon Master's Guide)
