You call forth a small 3” resin cube into your hand. As part of the same action you can make a ranged spell attack, throwing the cube at a target you can see within range. Upon impact the small cube instantly transforms into a gelatinous cube. Any large or smaller creature within the cubes space must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw. If you hit a specific creature with your attack, that creature rolls this saving throw at disadvantage. On a successful save, the creature can choose to be pushed 5 feet back or to the side of the cube. A creature that chooses not to be pushed suffers the consequences of a failed saving throw.
On a failed save, the creature takes 3d6 acid damage and is Engulfed. The cube can hold only one Large creature or up to four Medium or smaller creatures inside it at a time. Thereafter roll initiative for the gelatinous cube, which has its own turns.
The gelatinous cube disintegrates when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the spell does not require concentration and the gelatinous cube persists until it is destroyed.
