You cause a growth of fungus to appear in a creature's throat and begin rotting it away. Choose a target creature within range, that creature must make a constitution saving throw or begin suffocating and receives the poisoned condition. The creature also suffers 2d6 necrotic damage on a failed save, and every round at the beginning of its turn that you maintain concentration on this spell. A creature may make another Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns to spit out the Choking Rot, ending the spell. If a creature dies due to Choking Rot its throat opens up to reveal a bunch of slimy fungus that over the next minute slowly grows to encompass the entire head of the creature.
If you use this fungus, which lasts for 24 hours before rapidly decomposing itself, as the focus for another casting of Choking Rot. The target of the spell makes its saves at disadvantage.
