You touch one Large or smaller creature that has a boney skeleton or chitinous exoskeleton. The creature must make a CONS saving throw VS the spell's DC. On a successful save, the creature is unaffected. On a failed save, the target creature's skeleton or exoskeleton turns to soft cartilage that cannot support the creature's weight or movement. The creature falls prone and is incapacitated for the duration. If the creature takes damage while under the spell's effect, it may make another CONS saving throw on its next turn, ending the spell's incapacitating effect on a success.
As in my notes on Arlo's Scale Breaker, targeting creatures who have an ephemeral quality that is not reflected in their stats is frowned upon. My immediate thought is "Does a mind flayer have bones? Aboleths? Beholders? Flumphs?" I think questions like that are better left unanswered.
Like with Arlo's Scale Breaker, try to compress it to "The target must make a constitution saving throw or their skeleton turns to soft cartilage that cannot support the creature's weight or movement. "
