This spell grows an effigy out of the living wood of a magically infused sapling that represents the creature who was the targeted of this spell, the effigy is an inert duplicate of a living, Small to medium creature as a safeguard against death. This effigy grows as a living tree in the shape of the creature with bark as its skin and leaf as hair and grows to full size and maturity after 120 days; you can choose to have the effigy be a younger version of the same creature. It remains inert and endures indefinitely, as long as its remains undamaged or undisturbed.
At any time after the effigy matures, if the original creature dies, its soul transfers into the effigy, provided that the soul is free and willing to return. The effigy sheds its bark and leafs and detaches from its roots as it reveals a physically identical copy of the original and has the same personality, memories, and abilities, but none of the original's equipment. The original creature's physical remains, if they still exist, become inert and can't thereafter be restored to life, since the creature's soul is elsewhere.
