Using your artistic skill, you cause your depiction of a creature to come to life. You summon a large or smaller creature of challenge rating 3 or lower of any type except aberration, construct, demon, dragon, humanoid, or ooze. The creature, visibly magical, appears in an unoccupied space within range and has its default statistics, which are accessible to the DM.
While you are concentrating on the spell, the creature considers you its ally and follows your spoken and unspoken commands. If you lose concentration, the creature’s behavior depends on its natural alignment: If it is good, it remains your ally but is no longer under your control; If it is neutral or unaligned, it prioritizes its own survival; If it is evil, it becomes hostile to you and your allies. (If you are an evil alignment, the behavior of good and evil creatures is reversed.) Your concentration automatically fails if the distance between you and the creature exceeds 300 feet. The creature disappears after the duration.
Upon casting, you may make a DC 15 Intelligence (Arcana) check. On a success, the drawing is not consumed, but it cannot be used to cast this spell again.
If you have not personally seen the creature you want to summon, you must pass an Intelligence (Nature) check while drawing it to be able to summon it. The DC for this check is 12 + the creature's challenge rating. The DM can choose to make you automatically fail the check if there is no way for you to have sufficient knowledge.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the challenge rating increases by 1 for each slot level above 4th.
