you take the creatures most known trait,
if you use a turtle scale/shell you get a plus 2 to amour class.
if you use a wolf fang you get a 1d4 bite attack plus your strength.
if you use a bears fang you get a plus two to strength.
if you use a hawks feather you get a plus 2 and advantage on perception checks.
