You touch a piece of parchment, wood, or other non-living, non-magical material while holding an image in your mind.
The image you are recalling appears on the surface of the material over the course of the duration. The image appears as a change in coloration on the material's surface; no material is added to or removed from it. The process stops if you lose concentration, although any change is permanent regardless of whether or not the image was completed.
The image that you create can be real or imagined. If the image is imagined, the quality of the image is determined by an Intelligence (Deception) check. If it is being remembered, the quality is determined by an Intelligence (History) check; the older a memory, the harder it will be to recall details. The image may also be what you are currently seeing; if used in this way the image will be of very good quality without requiring a check, although a Wisdom (Perception) check may be made during the casting to add more detail to the inscription. The inscription will only ever contain details and information noticed by the caster; specific details that went unnoticed will not appear even if they were seen. You may also cause writing to appear as part of the inscription; this may be any words or phrases you know in any language you can read. The inscription can cover a maximum of 1 square foot of the surface of the object or material.
