Damage/Effect

Through your studies of the past, you have gained the special ability to see the past unfold before you. You can take an action to cast your sight and hearing to a time within the past 24 hours at your current location in the form of an ‘essence.’ You must specify a time in exact terms, such as a time of day or "four hours ago,” and your essence may stay in the past for a number of minutes equal to your Intelligence modifier. Your essence sees and hears as if you were there, though your essence is unable to move, talk, or otherwise interact with the past. Your present body may move, but doing so does not affect your essence. This ability does not grant you special ability to see through magical protection, such as the Nondetection spell or magical darkness. Unless dictated by another spell, any creatures are unaware of your essence. You can end the effect early as a bonus action.

For every time you try and cast this spell more than twice per day, there is a successive 25% chance that your vision is false. The DM makes this roll in secret.
