Choose a creature or object you can see within range. Telekinetic force sheathes the target and raises it vertically straight up to a maximum of 10 ft. This movement is stopped early if it encounters a solid surface, such as a ceiling. At the highest point of this movement (the full height if unobstructed or the height it was stopped  early at) you may choose to move the target horizontally by up to 5 ft. in a direction of your choice. The target is held aloft until the end of your turn at which point the spell ends and the target falls. If the target is a creature that is unwilling to be moved it can make a Strength saving throw and on success will be unaffected by this spell.

This spell can be used in a "safe" way or a "harmful" way:

  • A harmful way means when the target is raised up if that movement is stopped early, as detailed above, it takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage for each 5 ft it was moved, as it slams into that surface. Also when the spell ends the target will fall and take fall damage as detailed in the normal rules for falling and fall damage in Chapter 8 of the Player's Handbook.
  • If you choose the safe way then they are not slammed into any surface and stop before impact. In addition the force that moved them lingers and will negate fall damage for an amount of distance fallen up to an amount they had been moved by - if the spell raised raised them 10 ft. they would not receive any fall damage from a 10 ft. fall. If they land within this distance they land on their feet.

At higher levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the maximum height of the vertical movement increases by 5 ft for each slot level above 1st.
