You speak your incantation over the wax figure and name the limb you wish to sever. You then use the wire and cut the limb from the effigy which simultaneously cuts it off your target. Target makes a Con saving throw. On a success, the limb is not removed and the target suffers half damage. On a failure, the limb is removed and the target takes 4d6 magical slashing damage. When cast at 4th level the spell can remove tongues, hands, ears, feet, or individual digits from hands and feet. This spell is unable to remove the head of a target and cannot cut more than one limb/casting.
At higher levels: When cast using a spell slot of 5th level or higher you can choose to remove a whole arm or leg and the damage increases by 1d6 for every level above 4th.
