This spell is a minor magical trick that novice diviners use for practice, drawing benign pieces of information out of a willing target's mind. You discern one of the following pieces of information about a willing creature within range:
- You discern the target's name (the one it prefers to go by at that moment).
- You discern the target's age in years.
- You discern the target's birth month (or season).
- You discern the target's exact height and weight.
- You discern the target's placement within an arbitrary but astrologically generated system you are both familiar with, such as the target's astrological sign, affiliated element, or tribal animal.
- You discern a single piece of information about the target, such as the target's handedness, favorite food or color, or a number the target is currently thinking of. The target must consider the information—and its dissemination—inconsequential.
Because the information is generated by the target's own mind, any faulty information believed by the target will be passed along by the spell. While this spell is primarily used to entertain, an unscrupulous diviner could use the confidence and trust they build with a willing creature to coerce or manipulate them.

Thanks for this nice roleplaying cantrip which even allows you to earn a small coin.
Does this spell alert the target as to be a willing target would they need to be aware of the spell being cast upon them?
I like how the name thing has that clause in place that doesn't let people do anything like discover true names or unmask vigilantes or villains. After all, a creature with a true name would want to hide its true name and would therefore want to go by a different name. And Batman would definitely go by Batman when he's fighting crime but would go by Bruce Wayne when he's not trying to hide his real name.
Overall, really neat spell. It's like Prestidigitation but divining.
Here is a delayed reply for a very good question.
When I put the spell together, I had in my mind a sort of "unspoken" contract of the willing creature playing along with the "game" of the spell being cast, via showmanship on the street or a stereotypical oracle in a dimly lit room. The verbal components of the spell could be some flowery magic words or perhaps a hammed-up hypnotist voice rhetorically asking a question whose answer is mentally produced in their mind. Regardless, while the spellcasting may not be obvious, the interactions between caster and target should be.
In some instances, a creature may be completely unaware of the magical nature of the spell being cast (hence the inconsequential dissemination clause). Your DM may tweak the spell at their table to fit the theme of their game or allow you to tweak the spell yourself to fit the theme of your character. I, personally, am a huge fan of the unassuming spellcaster trope. Either way, thank you for reviewing my spell and leaving a comment!
