You alter the voice of one creature you can see that is within range. You can cause the voice to change accent, gender, tone, quality, or even to perfectly resemble a voice you have heard before if speaking. The spell has no affect on what the target chooses to say only the sound of the voice when they speak. You cannot change speech into other sounds like barks or music or alter what they say: if they speak, the words remain the same and likewise you cannot change a bark or growl into words but you can make a bark sound like a squeak or a bird's call sound like a monstrous roar and similar such things. There is an exception: if a creature targeted by this spell is normally capable of speech but cannot due to a physical restriction such as damage to vocal chords or a Druid's Wild Shape form this spell allows them to speak as long as they retain the mental capacity for it (since a creature's mental statistics are replaced this exception does not apply to those affected by Polymorph).

You can use this spell to render a creature voiceless: a person becomes unable to speak, dogs cannot bark, etc. rendering the target silent. A target silenced by this effect cannot provide verbal components of spells.

An unwilling creature targeted by this spell must succeed on a Constitution saving throw to avoid the spell. Any target affected by this spell can, if they wish, make Constitution saving throw at the end of their turns to end the spell effect on them on success.

At higher levels. When you cast this spell using a 2nd level spell slot or higher you can target an additional creature within range for each level above 1st level.
