You can increase the power of a spell even long after it was cast and protect that magical effect from attempts to dispel it.
You target a spell which is being cast or a persisting spell effect.
If targeting a spell in the process of being cast, you cast Augment Magic as a reaction. If targeting a magical effect created by a spell, you cast Augment Magic as an action. The spell level of the targeted spell increases by one and the spell is protected from counterspell and dispel magic for its duration.
The magical effect or spellcasting attempt cannot be dispelled by dispel magic or counterspell, respectively, cast at 3rd level. If dispel magic or counterspell is cast at 4th level or higher, the DC to dispel or counter is 10 + the spell level at which Augment Magic was cast + the spell level of the targeted spell. If the targeted spell does not specify any increased effects when cast at a higher level, it does not gain any additional effects.
* - as a reaction when you see a spell being cast or dispelled
