Barrier

The caster creates a barrier of energy around themselves or an object or creature they are touching. The next attack that hits the barrier has its damage reduced by 1d8 + spellcasting ability (cannot be reduced below 0).

At higher levels: The amount of damage reduction increases by 1d8 for each spell level above 1st.
