You create an uncontrollable mass of chaotic energy which erupts from you, with devastating effect. Roll a d4 and a d8 using the tables below to determine how the spell takes shape.

If this spell required you to make an attack roll, on a hit the target takes 8d8 of the rolled damage type. Otherwise creatures in the rolled area of effect must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 8d8 damage of the rolled type on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, each target takes 2d8 extra damage of the type rolled for each slot level above 5th.
