Clawdia's Nine Lives

This spell invokes the curious spirits of departed felines to bless the caster with an unnatural ability to evade death.

Method: Before the spell can begin each skull must be anointed and neatly bound in colourful string, and a fire lit in a hearth. This fire must not be allowed to go out for the duration of the spell. At 9 minutes past the hour, each hour, the caster will place one of the skulls atop the mantelpiece and brand it with a protective glyph. Once all skulls are set in place, the caster must sit before the fire and close their eyes. If the caster opens their eyes at any point during the remaining 51 minutes their soul will be snatched up and taken to the feline afterlife. Should the caster be successful they will open their eyes to a burnt out fire, an absence of cat skulls, and a set of 9 gold rings atop the mantelpiece.

Effect: This spell grants the caster immortality, or at least a crude form of it. When the caster is reduced to 0 hit points by any means, their body vanishes and they reappear in the nearest safe location with all their hit points replenished. The caster has no control over this and cannot choose to not activate this effect. The caster must be wearing the 9 rings provided by the spell but they do not have to have the spell prepared. This effect can happen a maximum of 9 times and each time it does, one of the rings turns black. If one or more of the rings are lost, the caster loses that many instances of this effect. No other creature can benefit from the power of the rings.
