The shadows surrounding your body and your target, are transformed into the shadowy energy of the shadowfell and are now under your control. This is a very bread and butter spell for the Shadow magic sorcerer and is endlessly useful. Using an action to cast and control, you can use these shadows for offense, defense and anything in between. You can attack enemies with your shadows dealing 4d8 necrotic damage which increases by 1d8 per spell level. You can also use this shadowy energy to defend yourself or other within range from attacks. When you or an ally is attacked you can use your reaction to give that ally the same effects as a the shield spell adding a + 5 to the targets armor class, or you can use this ability on yourself, this feature however can only be used after casting the spell and cannot be CAST as a reaction. You can also create the form of a creature that is large or smaller, this form can’t attack. You can also create a shroud of darkness around an enemy to give them disadvantage on all attacks as long as they are targeted by the shadow. The shadow also has the ability to act as a rope and restrain enemies. You can also move slam or throw the target dealing 2d8 bludgeoning damage while the target is restrained. The target must make a strength saving throw equal to your spell save dc to escape, they can retry this saving throw at the beginning of their next turn. On a success they break their shadowy bindings, on a fail they are restrained.
