This spell allows you to inscribe a personal rune or mark, which can consist of no more than six characters, upon any substance without harm to the material upon which it is placed. The writing can be visible or invisible. If an invisible mark is made, detect magic reveals its existence to the caster while the reveal magic spell causes it to glow visibly. Likewise true seeing, a gem of seeing, or a robe of eyes allows the user to see an invisible arcane mark.

If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have a number of castings active equal to your 1/2 your class level at a time, and you can choose to dismiss any or all as an action. Casting a mark when you have no castings available dispells the oldest mark. An arcane mark placed on a living being, will last for about a month before normal wear and tear destroys it.

If arcane mark is cast in a static non-moving location it can be used as the target for Teleport granting the caster “very familiar” status. Using Arcane Mark in this manner is considered to have triggered the Arcane Mark. If the mark has been dispelled without the caster’s knowledge the location, regardless of familiarity, is considered false.
