You target a creature you can see within range. That target may make a Strength saving throw as magically enhanced ruby is conjured around them. If they succeed the ruby shatters and the spell ends. If they fail they are encased in magical ruby and becomes paralyzed, even if the creature is normally immune to the paralyzed condition. A creature may choose to automatically fail the saving throw if they want to.
While trapped by this spell the target creature cannot be targeted directly by any spells or attacks as anything that would target the trapped creature will target the ruby encasement instead (even if the spell normally requires the target to be a creature). The ruby encasement has 100 Hit Points and an AC of 18. The ruby is immune to psychic and poison damage but any psychic damage it would receive is transferred to the trapped creature instead. It is vulnerable to thunder and force damage and resistant to all other types of damage.
At the end of its turn the trapped creature can make a Strength saving throw - ending the spell on success. The spell also ends if the ruby encasement is reduced to 0 hit points. If the spell ends due to damage reducing the encasement to 0 hit points any remaining damage is carried over to the creature that was trapped. Any damage applied to the target creature while it was trapped or carried over from reducing the encasement to 0 hit points will not be doubled or considered a critical hit, even if the source of damage was an attack within 5 ft or a critical hit. All ruby created by this spell disappears when the spell ends.
